About Liz Barr
Liz now has over 20 years experience as an equine veterinary surgeon and is an RCVS Recognised Specialist in Equine Surgery (Orthopaedics) and a European Specialist in Equine Surgery. Liz grew up in the south west of Scotland and qualified from Glasgow Univeristy in 2000. Having grown up around horses, at an early age she realised the importance of keeping those horses as sound as possible, and this prompted her interest in equine orthopaedics and lameness. Liz worked in various large hospitals around the UK and also for a brief spell in Canada, before settling in Kent in 2008.
Liz founded Barr Equine Veterinary Ltd in December 2018.
I don't aim to provide a complete routine veterinary service, but with a wealth of experience of both referral and first opinion practice, I do aim to provide a specialist lameness and orthopaedic service for both horse owners and veterinary practitioners. As a competitive rider (of very often variable success), I understand how important it is to have a good team behind you. As a vet I think it is important to communicate effectively with the farrier, physiotherapist, chiropractor, saddle fitter, trainer and indeed other veterinary professionals to make sure your horse is at the top of its game.

About Sarah Ryan
Sarah caught the horse bug early and having been involved with horses since the age of 5, a future career involving horses became inevitable. After working at several large yards, she worked in an equine veterinary hospital, originally managing the stables and then moving on to managing the reception team.
With this experience behind her, Sarah joined Barr Equine Vet Ltd in the summer of 2020 to help with the day to day running of the business and with the unenviable task of organising Liz’s diary.
Sarah will also be found out and about with Liz helping with appointments when required. As a horse owner herself, she understands that when your horse needs veterinary attention that this can be stressful and she is always there to help no matter what the problem is.
